There are a very few who can deny the joyous pleasure of a simple “NIMBUPAANI”. Us Indians right from our ancestors , always had the knack of making cocktails and mocktails. But the reason behind it was always medicinal and the hero of the drink was our humble “NIMBU” or lemon.
The origin of the lemon is thought to have been in Assam ,a region in northeast India. Nimbu is a delicious remedy for treating the digestive and urinary systems with the added bonus of having a high vitamin C content. It is an alterative that clears toxins from the blood. let us see how lemons or lime are useful in every aspect of our life. USES OF LIME/LEMONS/NIMBU

Ways to use it as medicine

1) Digestive System:

Lemons are sharp, digestive and laxative and stimulate salivation and digestive juices in the stomach. Lemons are sour, and heating and have sour after digestion effect.
Lemons calm down Vata, detoxify balance Pitta, but may stimulate aggravated Pitta, and Kapha dosha. For Indigestion and to Eliminate Gas, a mixture of 1 cup of cool water, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

2) Urinary System:

Lime/lemons flush the kidneys and get rid of the harmful deposits. For Kidney Stones and Gravel in the Urine, a mixture of 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon each of lemon juice and corriender juice may be very helpful Take this 2 or 3 times a day.

3) Obesity and cholesterol problems:

As we all know,A glass of hot water with 1 teaspoon each of honey and lime juice may be a useful drink to take in the morning for conditions of Obesity and High Cholesterol.

4) Liver problems :

The liver produces more enzymes from lemon/lime water than any other food. So this helps in regulating and maintaining liver functions.The warm lemon water helps purify and stimulate the liver. Lemon/lime water liquefies bile while inhibiting excess bile flow.

5) Heart and blood pressure:

Lemon/lime water can help lower blood pressure. It fortifies the heart.your heart health is improved from the lemon water’s potassium.Vitamin C also plays a role in decreasing cardiovascular damage.

6) Lemons & Limes : Anti- Septic & Anti Bacterial Properties

High acid levels in lemon juice are very effective in both inhibiting the growth of and killing bacteria in food. Lemons and limes also have natural antibacterial properties, and help protect against bacteria-related illnesses.
